Our Team
DR. A.K. Prakasan Gurukkal
Dr. A.K. Prakasan Gurukkal is a distinguished expert in martial arts, Marma therapy, and massage therapy, with over 34 years of research in alternative medicine. Holding an MD from the University of Calcutta in alternative medicine, he is a registered medical practitioner specializing in Marma Therapy (vital point theory), Acupressure, Naturopathy, Herbal medicine, Kalari treatment, meditation, and spiritual healing. His deep research into Kalaripayattu, the martial art of Kerala, led him to develop “Atma Reksha Tantra,” a spiritual martial art combining physical and mental disciplines. Through meditation, he has successfully alleviated the physical, mental, and social suffering of many people globally, with numerous cases of miraculous healing. His unique approach has attracted international recognition, with media outlets such as BBC, Asianet, and Channel V covering his work in spiritual martial arts and healing techniques.
Gurukkal’s teachings focus on spiritual martial arts techniques like “Choondumarma” (finger-pointing technique) and “Udelkettu Sastra” (body protection without force), drawing the attention of high-profile individuals from countries like the U.S., England, Germany, and France. Many of these figures, including American disciple Penikanges, have praised his methods for fostering confidence, inner peace, and fearlessness.
Additionally, at the age of 80, renowned grandmaster Mr. Rakondraimbe Alexander, founder of 80 ashrams in Madagascar, became a disciple of Gurukkal, acknowledging that his Atma Reksha Yoga facilitated a deep spiritual connection and bliss during practice.
Born on December 15, 1941, in Talap, Kannur, Kerala, Gurukkal was introduced to martial arts at the age of ten by his father, K.P. Nanoo, a freedom fighter who learned Kalaripayattu during India’s independence struggle. His mother, A.T. Janaki, also played a pivotal role in teaching him traditional medicines. Gurukkal studied various Kalaripayattu styles under masters like Nirakathu Bhaskaran Assan, Kadathanadu Bai Gurukkal, Udayankovil Ahammed Assan, and others, dedicating himself to research and mastery of the art. Later, he expanded his focus to traditional healing, specializing in naturopathy, Kalari Marma, and massage therapy. His Atma Reksha Yoga provides practitioners with a sense of fearlessness and tranquillity, helping them achieves physical and spiritual balance.
Acharya Suryaji
Acharya Suryaji is a renowned Marma expert who has trained under Dr. A.K. Prakasan Gurukkal and four other Siddha Yogis who had attained Shiva yoga samadhi. He is not only a great Yogi but also an accomplished martial artist and astrologer, with deep knowledge of the ancient Shastra of the Siddha tradition and the Vedas.
He has mastered many secret techniques of the Siddhas, including *Kaya Kalpa*, *Muppu*, *Marma Vidya*, *Kalaripayattu*, and Carnatic music. With over 15 years of experience in these sacred disciplines, he continues to practice and teach these ancient sciences with dedication.
His journey began with his grandfather, who was his first guru and introduced him to the practices of Yoga and Mantra Shastra. After a long search for the right teacher, he met his revered guru, Dr. A.K. Prakasan Gurukkal. Under his guidance, Acharya Suryaji delved deeply into *Kalaripayattu* and *Marma Vidya*.
Now, after over 12 years of discipleship, he carries forward the lineage with utmost respect and adherence to the teachings and principles of Prakasan Gurukkal.
